Cards and things - some thoughts
Dec. 11th, 2003 04:42 pmI'm going to have to put this on my other journal as well.
A few people have e-mailed asking for my address for cards. Others have put random appeals for addresses on their journal.
And I? I am not posting my address. Why? Not because of fear of mistrust (well some vague nervousness that people who read my other journal may realise that this is also me). Most people on my flist live far enough away form me that making the effort to reach me would be ridiculous. I'm not sure I understand the paranoia of it anyway, thousands of people know where I live. Thousands more can find out with incredible ease. Why they'd bother and what they'd do with the info is beyond me though.
Anyway, I digress. Basically I'm not a big fan of cards. The sheer waste of paper every year makes the environmentalist in me wince. Add in the cost, not just fo the card (and some of them are extortionate) but the postage, especially if the sender is abroud. My vote? Give the money to a charity instead (though check the charity), and send a christmas e-mail. It'll do far more good.

I usually go by Paul, since my first name was just too problematic.

Date: 2004-01-01 01:49 am (UTC)I should ahve sent this earlier, and I did but my e-mail has kindly informed me that every reply I've sent for the past week didn't get sent *kills e-mail*
In the name of karma, I can say that I am now suffering my b/f's EXTREME disapproval since after reading this post he realised that despite living together for a year, he still didn't know my real first name. He is not happy.
THANK YOU A THOUSAND AGAIN!!!

Date: 2004-01-05 08:54 pm (UTC)You know, I don't think I'd be happy either if I found out something like that about my girlfriend. Tsk tsk. You'll have to find some way to make it up to him. I'm sure you can think of something.
And, I hope you don't mind, but I've decided to think of you by your first name. Because I know far to many Pauls.
