I'm going to have to put this on my other journal as well.

A few people have e-mailed asking for my address for cards. Others have put random appeals for addresses on their journal.

And I? I am not posting my address. Why? Not because of fear of mistrust (well some vague nervousness that people who read my other journal may realise that this is also me). Most people on my flist live far enough away form me that making the effort to reach me would be ridiculous. I'm not sure I understand the paranoia of it anyway, thousands of people know where I live. Thousands more can find out with incredible ease. Why they'd bother and what they'd do with the info is beyond me though.

Anyway, I digress. Basically I'm not a big fan of cards. The sheer waste of paper every year makes the environmentalist in me wince. Add in the cost, not just fo the card (and some of them are extortionate) but the postage, especially if the sender is abroud. My vote? Give the money to a charity instead (though check the charity), and send a christmas e-mail. It'll do far more good.

::hugs you while you're not looking:: I more or less knew I wouldn't get your address - and I respect that . . . I'll just huggle you in comments instead. Heee.

Check. One Christmas e-mail for you. Or should it be a Yule/Winter Solstice one?

I've never thought of cards that way really. Makes sense. Although I do try to use ones printed on recycled paper when I can. And buy them from the charities that sell them. Maybe I should match what I spend on cards and postage and give it to a charity. *nods* Yes. Thanks for the idea.

Hee, huggles through comments are a definitely acceptable alternative to cards!

I follow Yule. (Or Winter Solstice, the two are largely interchangeable - but solstice is the 21st I believe. Yule just lasts for weeks!)

I always use recycled paper, but the recycling process isn't 100% efficient and I have a weird thing about charities, I have to check up on them before I trust them (I've found charities that allow too much "commission" stick in their pockets. Others who hand out the aid, but hand it out with religion at the same time). Another factor is many of my friends simply can't afford to send cards around the globe and if others do they feel obliged to.

Definitely a brilliant idea! Imagine how much could be raised if everyone did?

I'm wondering if it's on journal. It would appear not.

It's dark-prophet@angelfire.com

It occurs to me (actually, while I was typing the e-card)... what am I supposed to call you? It's just weird thinking of you as 'that internet friend' rather than by a name. (And sparkindarkness is the name of your fic, so I can't very well use that, now can I?)

Meep. Sorry if I'm being rude.

Not all...

My name is Janos Paul William Alexei -----(second name censored by the management)

I usually go by Paul, since my first name was just too problematic.

A million thanks for the e-card! I've saved it and set it as wallpaper and it's all pretty and pagan and cool!

I should ahve sent this earlier, and I did but my e-mail has kindly informed me that every reply I've sent for the past week didn't get sent *kills e-mail*

In the name of karma, I can say that I am now suffering my b/f's EXTREME disapproval since after reading this post he realised that despite living together for a year, he still didn't know my real first name. He is not happy.

THANK YOU A THOUSAND AGAIN!!!

You're very welcome. I'm glad you liked it.

You know, I don't think I'd be happy either if I found out something like that about my girlfriend. Tsk tsk. You'll have to find some way to make it up to him. I'm sure you can think of something.

And, I hope you don't mind, but I've decided to think of you by your first name. Because I know far to many Pauls.

I'm coming round to my first name to some degree... it was a childish, childhood habit to dump the first name really.

I'm sure I can make it up to him in many ways. But that would involve admitting I was wrong, which is a terribly bad habit.
