A new character joined the group (remind me to do a resume of the group's actions so far) but it was clear we were having problems.

S: Damn, I can't make this character.
Me: *ever helpful GM* Well, start at the concept - what is the concept?
S: Reality TV Show winner.
Me: errrr... ick?
S: I know. I have too many points to spend! This bloody system won't let me produce a talentless waste of skin!

Yes, the character creation system makes it hard to create talentless narks! Though it did give us the chance to have a character with crafts "Bushtucker challenges"

It was also decided that if he chose Clan Toreador or Clan Ventrue the rest of the clan in the city would just commit suicide out of pure shame.

I would point out that while reality-TV show winners are for the most part useless gits, they are not completely without talent. Think about how much backstabbing and treachery go on in most competitive reality-TV shows. In order to win your player's character would probably have used a great deal of manipulation and leadership to fuck over his fellow players. While the Ventrue would be appalled by the attention-whoring that is required to even appear on one of those shows, they just might be able to find to find a use for the devious little... I'd say "weasel" except that I actually like weasels. I don't know how long he'd LIVE as a Ventrue, but that's his problem.

Having thought about it further, if he started out as his sire's ghoul for a while it would work out even better. Then he'd be a devious little weasel on a leash. If you're player isn't absolutely adamant about his character being completely useless his concept could TOTALLY work.

Nah, he couldn't do that because he had the flaw - victim of the Masquerade :) - which also REALLY works


His concept is actually really fun, and it really does work - this oblivious guy with no real talent but desperately self promoting

Ah, I don';t know how familiar you are with the vampire system but there are we columns of attributes.

Talents, skills knowledges. You divide them and put 13pts in one, 9pts in another and 5pts in the 3rd - so an impractical professor would have 13pts of knowledges but only 5pts of skills etc.

So we could spend the 13pts in talents. It was the skills and ESPECIALLY the knowledges that foiled us

Hehe, it's been a while since I've played. Craft: Falsified Resume, maybe? Since he's such a waste of oxygen I'm guessing he'd focus a fair amount on outward appearances. How about Knowledge: Structural Engineering (Overly-Gelled Hair Structures)?

Just thought of another knowledge... Automotive Penis Overcompensation. He will know exactly which vehicle screams "THE RUMORS ABOUT MY MICROPHALLUS ISSUES ARE COMPLETELY FALSE! REALLY!" the loudest for any given time and place.
