Actually, no, I take it back. it's as helpful as a hyperactive 5 year old busily chewing their way through sugar and e-numbers. Sure, there's a lot of info an activity there but if I wanted it, I would have asked for it.

I don't need to do a quick update, if I did, I would have gone to the update tag. Nor do I need to know the last 5 comments, I don't need snippets from my friends page - I would go to my friends page if I did and if I need to consult the FAQ I will do so according to need not popularity of the thread. Sure, it's all nice and helpful and everything but it makes finding what I DO want unnecessarily difficult.

i am also rather displeased, i admit. they seem to be doing a lot of really frivolous things and not working on the stuff that would actually be useful, like the birthday notification feature and stuff.
