sparkindarknessRunning Dark Ages vampire from Vampire Masquerade... I like the game. I'm the storyteller. I have to do the prep and my homework.
BUT there is just NO excuse to spending HOURS researching early 13th century Magdeburg, the Hanseatic League and the Holy Roman Empire, let alone all the research on early Germanic languages. I don't even SPEAK German! French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese even a little Japanese and Latin, but German? No. I speak more Esperanto than I speak German.
And even less excuse to be as interested as I was. (Except the languages thing which was kind of frustrating, since I got little detail, but I'm going with early low German since the various dialects of Low German were FAIRLY comprehensible to each other. Kinda.
Even worse? Is reading the history and automatically fitting RP plots to it.
REALLY REALLY worse? Automatically ascribing vampiric motives to real world events. *redraws reality/fantasy line* Alexius Angelus DID not manipulate Boniface because of a devious Ventrue plot to destabalise Constantinople. *bangs head on table*
