MY bloody spellchecker.

Alright, it catches most of my appauling typos caused by mind and hands moving way too fast for the keyboard or rational spelling to keep up. And yes it is chocked full of weird words like Chiminage that no rational spellchecker should really contain.

But does it have to be so bloody puritanical?

If I've made a typo in the word 'sex' or 'fuck' correct it please. No, I did not mean to type 'six' and you bloody well know it! Look, there's nothing else it CAN be - if I've typed the word 'fuick' it clearly screams 'oops pushed the u as well' I mean it's right next to the I on the keyboard. It does NOT mean I want to type flick. Or Quick. I mean c'mon what kind of lousy spelling makes you write 'quick' as 'fuick'? And a leper typest missing several essential digits isn't going to get it that wrong.

Damn spellchecker's oppressing me.

it's expecially bad when you have some last minute paper due and you don't realize that the spellchecker's okayed "heir" when you really ment to type "their." gah!!

Oo! Oo! Or in wrapping up a term paper, using the line "In short, I learned a lot." And the spell checker doesn't seem to care that there's an extra S on the end of 'Short'.

Well yes, In shorts I learned alot. But that has Nothing to do with this Term paper!

glad I caught that with the white-out before I turned it in.

The word fuick (pronounced foo-ick) is now entered into the English language. Meaning can come later (if zig-a-zig-ah made it into Oxford English dictionary, anything can)

I suggest a meaning of 'expletive suggesting exhausted exasperation - such as having finished a long and tiring task and then realising something is wrong with it 'oh fuick'.

OH I do so hate that.

ESPECIALLY because the eye has some strange freaky computer screen blind spots. you can re-read your work on the computer screen 100 times and STILL not see the blatantly obvious typo. Then you print it out and lo, it's obvious at a glance.

We actually lost more marks for using tip-ex than we did for bad spelling or typos.

The idea was, that someone with a typo had made a mistake. Someone using tip-ex had spotted the mistake and was content to use a bodge up to fix it rather than re-print/re-write the work.

It was deeply unfair.

~snerk~ especially since even if your teach doesn't read the rest of the damn thing, they at least read the intro and conclusion. i have many fond memories of 12-page high school papers with 3+ pages worth of song lyrics as filler. those were the days...
