OK, I won't, but I'll try. I offer the excuse that I'm also writing a Spark in Darkness fic.

Name: Emrys Oren (bani Verbena)
Currently Appearing In: Mage. "http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=sparkindarkness""http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=sparkindarkness""http://www.livejournal.com/users/sparkindarkness/"
Orientation: Bisexual (was considered the norm on the commune).
Origin: Well technically he was born on a commune. A new age commune. Mentioning this to him is probably not a good thing. Mentioning ‘peace and love’ should only be done by the suicidal. The commune was in Scotland (more for ease of open land than anything).
Significant Other(s): Well, if he returns home his parents have lined up a few, but that just gives him another incentive not to return home. He’s waiting to find the right mage (he can’t really see himself settling down with a sleeper).
Quirks: Well, beyond being a mage, he has had a very quirky past. His parents re-defined naivety, and though he’s kind of outgrown it and his Goth stage, parts of them both still shine through. He’s very idealistic in many ways - certainly passionate about his causes (mainly the environment. He never lost his reverence for nature - if anything becoming a mage only increased it). Most people think him New Agey and a little spacey because of it.
Also, much to his annoyance, some ancestor in the past was a changeling. Not that the faerie blood actually helps him at all - faerie cantrips don’t match awakened magic in his mind anyway. It does mean he has a few fae attitudes though, including an obsession with oaths and truth and a deep dislike of cold iron.
Background: Born in a New Age commune in Scotland, Emrys grew up largely isolated from the world. He received a decent education, if somewhat idealistic and the education authority would certainly take issue to the amount of time dedicated to study of the occult and magic. Still, it never really felt right to him, nothing quite made sense, and he grew up feeling that there was something missing.
He left the commune while still young and went south, to York, the big city in his mind. And have many of his dreams crushed. People weren’t happy and kind and in touch with nature. People didn’t understand the natural cycles or the mystical secrets of the world. The world was cruel, unfeeling, destructive and dying.
He fell into a spiral of depression. Largely an outcast because of his unusual looks and strange beliefs, he joined one of the various subcultures and revelled in despair, darkness, fatalism and grief. A persona to match what he thought the world had become.
It was only when he moved to London that he opened his eyes. He’d gone too far one night, drank too much, taken too many drugs, and gotten into a fight with someone who was too dangerous. He lay bleeding his life out in the gutter when the truth came to him. Balance was the key.
There were still things of beauty and life and joy in the world. In nature. But there was also darkness, death and pain in the world. And in nature.
He awoke, the power coming to him for the first time, healing his wounds and purging the poisons from his body. In the balance of life and death, joy and pain, he found power and magic.
Employment: He owns a fashionable coffee shop in London. It pays well and it’s a good place to organise his efforts to change the world.
Appearance: Emrys is a very good looking young man, but at the same time very disturbing, a legacy of his faerie heritage. His face is almost feline, with a pointed chin, high cheek bones and elegant ears with slight points. He has vivid purple eyes. He has long, rich brown hair and narrow, smiling lips full of vivid colour.
Distinguishing Characteristics: Long hair is fairly common, and there are people as pretty as him - though most of them are models. But his eyes and ears are certainly unusual, for mages as much as for humans. If anything it sets him even more apart with mages, as many mages believe in the fae, and any who know the first thing about the Changeling courts tread carefully.
If You Could Pick a Theme Song for This Character, It Would Be: I may not have mentioned it, but I’m really no good at this. “Salva Me” Enya.
Sin-of-Anger: He’s managed to bury a lot his old rage, but not all of it. The state of the world still infuriates him. The destruction, the despoiling, hurts him like a wound. But the ones who earn his greatest hate is ever and always the Technocracy. Not just for crushing people’s dreams, and pulling all magic and wonder out of the world - and that’s reason enough, for his faerie blood as much for his Awakened powers. But also for the fact they have so much power and influence in the world and do nothing to stop it dying, the wars, the destruction of the environment, the genocides - they even accelerate the process.
Sin-of-Envy: Not especially, most of the people around him by far are sleepers. No matter how powerful, or rich or influential or beautiful, they’re still sleepers. He used to envy the true fae, wished he had more of their blood. At least he did before he realised that the courts of the faerie had fallen even further than the Traditions of the Mages. As to other mages, well, sometimes he wishes he had the power of some of the older ones, but that’s a matter of time and learning... he’s sure.
Sin-of-Pride: Part of it may be his faerie legacy. Or it may just be that he has magic, he has power. He underestimates Sleepers, probably far too much. One day it’s going to cost him.
Sin of Gluttony He enjoys food, but to no excess, not even coffee. He does have food obsessions because of his upbringing, though. He only eats organic and free range, won’t touch GM and unless he knows how that animal is slaughtered, he’s not touching meat. (He’ll eat meat, and largely considers vegetarianism unnatural, but he won’t support cruel treatment).
Sin-of-Lust: Well, he had a somewhat liberal upbringing. He actually shocked Nik with his blatant chat up lines. Seeing nothing wrong with sex, he sees nothing wrong with going up to someone and saying “You’re cute, do you want to have sex?”
Sin-of-Avarice: He likes money, but more for what he can do with it than the money or goods themselves. He does take pride in his coffee shop though, and he will occasionally see something he simply must have for the shop.
Sin-of-Sloth: Humans need eight hours a night sleep on average. People in their teens and early twenties generally need nine hours. He knows this. He insists on it. If you want your internal organs to remain in their normal position, do not deny him of them.
Virtues: His passion for his causes, his kind hart and deep reverence for the natural world. He’s also willing to oppose the Technocracy to do this. Given that the Technocracy is more powerful than most nations, if not all nations, this takes guts.

And because this character was originally an RPG character (mine), here is his character sheet (which he started with. This character lasted in a game that stretched for over a year, maybe over two. by the end he was considerably more powerful).

I like him, he was one of my first roleplay characters. He greww quite massively...

And I so agree with him on issues of sleep. I prefer to go the full 10, but I'll settle for less if I have to.
