Rick: What’s that sound?
Darren: Sounds like Sparkindarkness is scraping the bottom of the barrel.
Me: I’m doing nothing of the kind! *reaches further down* scrape,

Name: Ghost
Currently Appearing In: Spark in Darkness - the main story. "http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=sparkindarkness""http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=sparkindarkness""http://www.livejournal.com/users/sparkindarkness/"
Orientation: Spirit - but highly curious.
Origin: The spirit world. Actually quite a young spirit.
Significant Other(s): Since he’s Rick’s spirit guide, technically Rick.
Quirks: As far as spirit guides go, he’s weird. this is mainly because of the nature of Rick’s magic. He’s modern and techno savvy - he’s a techno spirit after all. he’s also deeply, bitingly sarcastic. He’s also probably the only entity in the world who’s comfortable around Ahrimadan.
Background: No-one, not even the spirits themselves (except maybe some of the oldest of them., and they're not inclined to tell anyone) is sure about the origin of spirits. Some posit that spirits don’t exits until they are imagined or conceived, but that begs the question of the origin of spirits that are older than intelligent life. Do spirits come before the thing they represent, or does the thing come into being first then developed a spiritual reflection? Do they come into being a soon as the concept is first imagined - which seems to be the case with some of the more fantastic, esoteric and ephemeral spirits (after all, surely the spirit of the Socratic method of teaching didn’t come before Socrates. Right?)
They might all be right, there is such diversity in the spirit world and our laws of reality don’t especially apply there.
In any case, Ghost is a techno-spirit. Not just a general statement - he is a spirit of human technology - well, modern human technology anyway. Mainly electricity and information to a smaller degree.
Employment: Spirit guide to Rick, which generally means advising, helping and generally making sure Rick continues to develop and evolve without falling into the trap of stagnation and assumptions.
Appearance: Well usually this doesn’t apply. Alright, to someone with spirit senses it does apply, but it’s very hard to describe what a shaman sees, given that the language wasn’t really designed to deal with the spirit world. Try to picture a cloud of electricity and sharp edges of binary and l33t that manages to be both diffuse and defined and have vast depth into an infinite space while at the same time being almost too small to see. Told you it was hard to describe.
Ghost can actually possess electronic devices (which means he looks like what he has possessed - usually Rick’s PDA) and he CAN embody. Just. Generally he’s limited to either a place of strong spiritual energy (with the right resonance he can use. He couldn’t, for example, embody in a holy glade sacred to all nature spirits but he could in an elite hacker’s layer which is the constant source of new breakthroughs and imagination) such as Rick’s flat. Alternatively, Rick can help empower him briefly (or not so briefly, Rick’s actually quite good at this shamaning). When embodied he can look... well basically like anything (well not ANYTHING, he has to comply with physical rules which means his body will generally be a copy of a creature that already exists for simplicity’s sake) generally though, the bodies are all grey in colour (extra colouration would require more effort and concentration). This is a temporary thing though if he leaves the place of power, or if the place of power isn't strong enough to sustain him. Besides, he doesn’t especially like it, not being used to things like gravity.
Distinguishing Characteristics: When embodied, his uniform grey appearance, or even several shades of grey to create a monochrome person are quite distinctive.
If You Could Pick a Theme Song for This Character, It Would Be: PPK “Resurrection” and no, I don’t actually know why. It just seemed to fit. And the “City of the Ancients” theme to Final Fantasy 7, mainly because the version I have sounds very electronic, as well as being rather mystical.
Sin-of-Anger: Generally no... but Luddites and anyone who wants to hurt Rick will generally put his back up. He wasn’t very fond of Darren for just that reason.
Sin-of-Envy: Sometimes he wishes he had a body. Or rather that making a body wasn’t so difficult. There are so many things humans can do that look like such fun.
Sin-of-Pride: He’s modern, knew, powerful and capable. Move aside tree spirits, the future is here!
Sin of Gluttony One of the first things that became apparent with Ghost’s embodiment is how unused he is to physical sensations. This generally means that anything that’s bad (like pain, or discomfort) freaks him badly. On the other hand, anything that feels good... well he tends to get a little obsessed. There’s a growing list of foods stuck to the fridge that he is NOT allowed to touch under any circumstances.
Sin-of-Lust: Ah... as above. Not used to these hormone thingies... looking for a way to turn them off. Especially when he gets the balance all wrong. Not good.
Sin-of-Avarice: Computer advert on? He wants it, or has it.
Sin-of-Sloth: Not unless embodied - then the silk sheets on the bed are just too addictive for him to get up off.
Virtues: He cares - he really does, about Rick. And Darren to some extent. He also has a killer sense of humour, quick wit and the ability to take change in his stride.

The mental image makes my head hurt badly.
Hmmm, at the minute he's more tunring the hormones into hyper out of control things,
