And I wish to make it clear that today is obviously Tuesday. Any of you believing it is Wednesday are deluded. yes, yes you are. *nods*
Next is Ethan. I'm rapidly running out of boys, I'm going to have to scrape the barrel.
Name: Ethan (technically Ethan Arlington, but vampires usually drop their second names)
Currently Appearing In: Generation Gap. "http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=sparkindarkness""http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=sparkindarkness""http://www.livejournal.com/users/sparkindarkness/"
Orientation: Bi-sexual, with equal preference (most of his hang ups were pretty much destroyed by the Twins).
Origin: Cambridge, England.
Significant Other(s): Beyond the strange relationships he is forced into with the rest of his pack, none.
Quirks: Semi-sadism. It’s not so much that he enjoys hurting people, just that he spends so much time among people who can (and frequently do) abuse him with little effort on their part that he lashes out at others. If nothing else it reminds him that he is at least more powerful than humans, even if the vampires he hangs around with can knock him down pretty easily. The abused becomes the abuser, right? He’s also something of a recluse when he’s allowed to be. Being in his fellow vampire’s company rarely results in a good time for Ethan, so he generally avoids as much company with everyone as possible.
Background: Spoilt little rich boy often went to town to do some slumming. Got seen by the wrong creature who considered the mix of rebellion, sophistication and street smarts to be of great assistance to it to further its plans. Drawing Ethan into its net, the young man was inducted into vampirism.
For reasons unknown (well known to me, but I’m not telling) the creature and its new childe were quickly separated, leaving Ethan to largely fend for himself. He would probably have been rendered truly dead several times over by now if it weren’t for his quick wit and the patronage of the vampire Alfred, commonly acknowledged as the ruler of the city by right of age, power, cunning and strength of his followers. No-one really knows what Alfred sees in the apparently crippled Ethan, especially given the elite nature of his followers, but Alfred keeps him nevertheless.
Employment: He‘s a vampire, kind of makes it hard to hold down a 9-5 job. Not that he needs all that much, he doesn‘t eat or drink and his accommodation is owned by Alfred. Anything else is pretty much luxury and he doesn‘t have much of that.
Appearance: Above average height, Ethan is slim and pretty in a boyish kind of way, with quick mischievous eyes looking out from a veil of long bangs and a smile that looks designed for smiles. Since his death he rarely smiles and those eyes have lost a lot of their clever sparkle. His transition into death wrought other changes on him as well - his eyes are a deep glowing red, his once tanned skin now preternaturally pale and long fangs grace his upper jaw.
Distinguishing Characteristics: His appearance is distinctive for a vampire, given the effort it takes to disguise himself. He’s also massively embarrassed by the fact that most of the stupid old legends that don’t really apply to vampires do seem to apply to him. He can’t cross running water - at least not easily, entering someone’s home uninvited is impossible to him, crossroads confuse and cloud his mind, holy symbols can drive him away and garlic repels him. Silver burns like fire, and fire burns like nothing else. He cannot stand even the faintest sunlight, while most other vampires are quite happy in diffuse or indirect sunlight. Generally life is very difficult for the young vampire.
If You Could Pick a Theme Song for This Character, It Would Be: Have I mentioned how bad I am at this? “Something Inside so Strong” Labbi Sifre. “Bring me to Life.” Evanescence.
Sin-of-Anger: Mainly about himself. He gets angry every time he’s had to give in, or run away or hide. He's angry that he's so pathetic and really angry that everyone feels the need to take advantage. Yup, definitely angry.
Sin-of-Envy: Every vampire who doesn’t burn to ash in light sunlight or the merest touch of fire. Vampires who can go to an Italian restaurant and not run screaming when they serve the garlic bread. Being able to eat or drink. Being able to cross the river without having to be physically dragged. Just not having all these stupid restrictions on him which are probably his own fault anyway, damn it!
Sin-of-Pride: No, that’s been rather badly beaten out of him. He’s better than humans, but his gang has, made it clear that’s about all he’s better at.
Sin of Gluttony Can’t eat. Can’t drink. Is forced to eat blood by a near insatiable appetite, it’s not overindulgence, it's need.
Sin-of-Lust: No, when sex comes to him it’s usually forced upon him...
Sin-of-Avarice: He’s more concerned with himself than property, he does miss being rich and comfortable though and will spend a while moping about it in quiet moments when he has to sleep rough.
Sin-of-Sloth: He doesn‘t have time to be slothful. He falls into an almost comatose state at daybreak, but he can‘t control that. The rest of the time he has to be alert just to save his own skin more than anything..
Virtues: Patience. He’s put up with so much crap for so long he now just tolerates it reflexively. He can wait in the shadows for an age to avoid discovery. He will lay plans to evade his fellows that may take weeks or months to come to fruition. The only asset he does have is time, and he’s willing to use it.
