14 boys meme continues
Mar. 20th, 2004 04:40 pmOnwards and upwards! Forwards the faery boys! Oh, and how humiliating is it that I can't remember the name of the Dorset Giant? I've been there a hundred times! I've prayed there! I've worshipped there!!! ARGH!
Name: Sitharensor, Noon Bather, Blessed of the Dorset Giant.
Currently Appearing In: Spark in Darkness - Light & Dark. "http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=sparkindarkness""http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=sparkindarkness""http://www.livejournal.com/users/sparkindarkness/"
Orientation: Faery... i.e. male, female, fae which could be either or neither.
Origin: The House of Eternal Fire.
Significant Other(s): Technically Ilatheril - but they haven‘t declared monogamy. They were never meant to fall in love (and they haven’t) and though all sidhe recognise the need for marriages of convenience, neither the Seelie (because of the supremacy of love) nor the Unseelie (because of the supremacy of personal freedom) insist on making these marriages monogamous.
Quirks: Dichotomy. There’s a lot of weird things that are pretty much sidhe, incredible power and arrogance, inability to act on an instant, and a lot that is Seelie, reverence of the past, of honour, of lineage, of the purity of ideals. For him alone, though: He is Seelie, he loves the Seelie, he KNOWS the Seelie are the best, the greatest, the ones who are right and just and pure and good. The ones who SHOULD rule, who SHOULD dominate, who MUST dominate. BUT he knows the Seelie are too static, he knows they’re too pompous, he knows they’re foolish and blinkered and he KNOWS they need the Unseelie as equal counterbalances. He knows the Seelie are wrong, yet they can’t be wrong. How can he reconcile this? Well, even he doesn’t know.
Background: Sitharensor was born in an era of great change for the static Seelie. For the first time in centuries, the very fabric of fae society had been ruptured. Countless wars have the Seelie and Unseelie fought, some small, some vast calling all creatures of faerie to arms. Some local, some spanning the globe - but only one has ever ended in one side truly winning. This is the world Sitharensor was born into - the Seelie triumphant, the Unseelie destroyed or enslaved, reduced to vassals of their rightful rulers... and it didn’t work. Balance was lost. The Great Fading seemed to grow ever stronger, ever faster. Perhaps all that is fae is dying... with his father lost in memories of the past, and his mother lost in wonderings of the spirit, Sitharensor stands at a time when it seems the fae will die in his lifetime.
Employment: Noble. (AKA independently wealthy slacker. AKA extreme politician - like extreme sports but more dangerous and demanding).
Appearance: Sidhe. Yes, very brief, but there’s no other way to describe it. Oh, you can use the simple words - high cheek bones, slender frame, tall, piercing, slightly slanted violet eyes. Extremely long sunlight gold hair, pale skin that shines and gleams in even the slightest light. But words can never do the sidhe justice. Without the slightest use of power they can make deadly enemies fall down on their knees in joyous devotion; strangers throw themselves forwards to die in their name - just at the sight of these gods on earth. THEN they use their power.
Distinguishing Characteristics: Well, he’s perfectly average. There's nothing especially distinctive about him that sets him apart from any sidhe... But he is sidhe.
If You Could Pick a Theme Song for This Character, It Would Be: Still bad at this. “May it be” - Enya (NOT THE EBATLES) when thinking, “Cursum Perficio” - Enya when he’s angry. “Paved Paradise” - Joni Mitchell.
Sin-of-Anger: Sitharensor is a very angry person. But all his life he’s been taught that anger is impolite, uncouth and self-destructive. But he’s angry. Angry at those powerful sidhe lords who care more about their position than their duty. Angry at those Seelie who prefer the appearance of honour and purity to its actual substance. Angry at the inevitable decline of the fae. Angry at his parents for giving up so completely. Angry at all the battles and back biting and pointless waste. He’s angry, and sometimes it bubbles up to the surface, then, perhaps, you see the sidhe he would have been were he Unseelie.
Sin-of-Envy: He is a sidhe. Part of being a sidhe is ultimate self confidence, even self love. He envies no living creature. The past? He envies the past with a strength that makes his heart ache and leaves a bitter taste on his tongue. He hungers for the days of glorious fae power, before the fall, before decline and apathy conquered the fae more that any enemy ever could. Envy? It drives him every step, and infuriates him with what can never be.
Sin-of-Pride: Sidhe. Enough said.
Sin of Gluttony He’s a Seelie noble, he appreciates the finer things in life... including food. He doesn’t necessarily NEED them, but he is very used to them.
Sin-of-Lust: He’s not an Unseelie to follow and express his ever passion, to live his every passion. But if he wants someone, he feels no need to hide the fact - unless there’s a political reason to do so.
Sin-of-Avarice: Never had the chance to be. He‘s rich, powerful - and surrounded by rich and powerful beings. To truly WANT something, you have to conceive the idea of not being able to have it.
Sin-of-Sloth: NO. Massively NO. This is one of the things that angers him - that so many fae - so many SIDHE have given up. He keeps going, even if it is futile.
Virtues: Tenacious dedication. He has a cause, he has a goal, he has a pinnacle to reach and he will not stop until he has reached it; no matter what.
