Why the change? Much as I like Livejournal, there are many reasons why I am opening a blog:
1)LJ regularly has WTF moments that make me cringe.
2)LJ just doesn't have all the bells and whistles I want. Or, at least, I don't know how to use all the bells and whistles I want on LJ
3)LJ always feels like someone else's space even when it's your space, y'know? Which is related to point 1 – they have WTF moments and they have the power to have their WTF moments
4)Many sensible people have been poking me to get a blog for some time now
I have to thank Ann Somerville for letting me play in her space, even giving me a chunk of her bandwidth to play with to get used to this blogging thing. As Beloved is eagerly happy to tell everyone, I have all the computer skills of a concussed dodo. She tolerated much much time of my bewildered questions, ineptitude and risked me exploding her space with great big random computer chaos that follows me everywhere. My explorations also dragged out far longer than I think anyone could possibly have reasonably expected.
Without those weeks playing in her space, I would not now have a blog. Playing with the widgets (widget widget widget widget widget widget. I love that word) and layouts and templates was essential to make me comfortable enough with this blogging thing to actually set things up
Does this mean my LJ is dying?
No. I am not deleting this LJ. But different things may appear in different places. It is unlikely that my real life randomness will appear on the blog so much (it might, I have no firm plans). And political/activist/social justice/ranty type stuff is likely to appear on the blog not on the LJ – but my LJ will at least have an excerpt and a link (a beginning then a “this is continued here” type thingy) so following LJ will ensure you don't miss anything, but you will be redirected a few times. Who knows, I may even start writing again (hah, anything's possible).
Most of my linky things will direct to the blog rather than the journal.

Date: 2011-03-03 08:59 pm (UTC)And then I got frustrated because apparently I've got a tabletop rpg brain wanting myriad options and don't like having to choose from pre-formed paths. That was a head thud in the wall.
BUT, what made playing so interesting to me I had to spend the money - and so interesting to me that I know I will go back to play; is that I have the computer version. Did you buy for PC?
Because there is DragonAgeNexsus Oh... the Nexus. There are add-ons and plugins for the game. So I went and found me a brown Alistair (my whole damn party is brown, seriously) and added things so that Morrigan likes Girls and Alistair likes boys.
I admit to not knowing how well they work end-game, since I didn't reach that point. But they worked enough to keep me interested despite my frustration. And it was fun enough for me to keep making new characters when I initially started to get frustrated at being boxed in.
Considering it was months ago, there must be even more improvements to the relationship aspect of things. I know there was a Sir Giles update with voice acting and everything a while back.
And yes tis not the same as the game company providing the options - but allowing the players to create some of what they want as well, and letting them host it for free, etc to be distributed has to count to squeefulness, to me.
PS: By LJ, did you mean LJ or DW or both?

I loathe updating things randomly, so they may have fixed stuff like the Non Circle Mage Dialogue by now and you'll have no need of fixes. But there are fixes for things.
There are also Nudie fixes for the sex scenes. And uhm, fixes for the sex scenes to make them more like sex scenes - if you were pouty. They tend to be pretty darn individual player specific.
Besides Nexsus there is also: http://social.bioware.com/browse_bw_projects.php Cannot begin to remember all the stuff I got from there. I remember definitely got the better proportioned dwarf body.

The rest you can enjoy hunting on your own, depending on your time. I do highly recommend 'Armor of Sten' though, just cause he looks awesome in it.
