Haiti hit by devastating Earthquake

sparkindarknessHaiti has been hit by a massive earthquake - a magnitude 7.0 quake
The damage is horrendous and terrifying to see. The loss of lives can only be guessed at - but I think it is clear that the numbers are not going to be small by any stretch.
And this will both not be helped by and will be exacerbated by Haiti's devastating poverty. The country is the poorest nation in the Americas and many of its population live in dire poverty beyond most of our imaginings.
A disaster like this is always tragic, but these people already have so little and are already so vulnerable that recovery from this and saving what can be saved will just be that much harder
