I have Wrath of the Liche King

There will be nothing but WoW until my characters hit 80. Yes I am obssessed.

But - first impressions?

Seriously WOW

This game is visually stunning. It is beautiful. The terrain, the instances. I'm staring at my screen, awe inspired by the beauty of it.


Secondly, the quests are interesting, fun and funny (especially DEHTA) a hundred percent improvement over tbc :) I is a happy happy man

LOL! Hubby picked up his copy at the midnight release and came home to immeadiately install and start playing only to discover the internet provider had our services down for maintance that night. He gt home from work last night and played until sometime around 5 or 6 this morning. I figure he'll be plugged back in after a nap *grin* I have to admit what I've seen peering over his shoulder has been pretty.

Now I avoided a DK because, predictably, EVERYONE IN THE DAMN GUILD made a DK alt. We had to make it a guild rule that no more than three DKs would be welcome in any one raid - and do they all want to level characters that can't raid?

Of course, now we have a shortage of Deathknights (which turn out to be able to do amazing damage AND offtank at the SAME DAMN TIME - alright with a gear tweak)

I seek wisdom from the expert:
Is there anything in WotLK that's worth immediate purchase for casual players below 55?

I'm doing good to nudge my darling husband into joining me online once every week and a half; he fought in the first Scourge invasion and *still* hasn't reached forty with his main. Maybe a chance to explore brand-new territory will tempt him into levelling without realizing it, but ... the only dungeons we've ever visited were the Deadmines and Gnomeregan (and we're never NEVER walking back into Gnomeregan).

No one goes to Gnomer again after the first time...unless you're now going for the achievement.

Achievements are pretty fun though, even for casual players, so how about that?

The achievements are available without buying the expansion, so at the moment, there's not much in it to interest you.

The new profession, Inscription, was implemented for everyone in 3.0, so you've got that, too. The only thing you're missing at that level is the opportunity to start a Death Knight - which has the up side of having the worlds coolest starting zone, and kicks you out the door at level 57, chortling to yourself about how emo you are.

Ummmm beyuond levelling a Deathknight there's nothing IMMMMMEDIATELY brain sucking I would say - since you'd need to be 68 before you could reasonably hit Northrend

Oh my Gods...DEHTA! I'm a druid..who's also a skinner...those quests are like an insane conflict on so many levels. I keep getting jumped by npc's.

I agree though! GORGEOUS! You must see Dalaran!

While the quests were funny my internal justification system kicked in and came up with:

1) These are an extreme faction of druids and do not reflect druidish attitudes and they're lying to the Cenarion folks to get you rep.

2) Ok they wouldn't NORMALLY care about me killing animals - but these Nessingwary folk piss them off because a) they kill for sport/monetary gain and/or b) they are killing a lot of highly endangered animals in a difficult and rare habitat (Northrend) that is already under thread (the Scourge) Such disregard for natural balance for the sake of profit and fun has enfuriated them to an extent that they're unwilling to tolerate any further intelligent predation on the local wildlife.
