Cameron is still trying to convince us GBLT folks that the Tory party is all friendly and fluffy and that we should vote for them. They’ve paid out their 30 pieces of silver to their wonderful political “gay friends” like Nick Herbert to grit their teeth and lie to us that the Tories have changed. Even sending him to their European partners in Poland who are disgustingly homophobic – especially since he came under fire in the debates from Nick Clegg for his hate monger allies. What, Poland doesn’t have some Judas Gays of their own, Cameron? You have to share yours? You already sent him to America to try and convince them aren’t you stretching your token gays a little far here?

Cameron has said he would not ally with people with unacceptable views. It seems homophobia is acceptable to him.

But it doesn’t seem to be working. In fact support for the Tories among GBLT people is plummeting, in fact polls show support has dropped by 30% from 39% of us willing to vote for you to… 9%. (And to those 9% – what is WRONG with you people?)

Could it be that you tried to encourage us by saying you would include us in your speech about the “great ignored” and then, well ignoring us by not doing so? (Hey if it’s any consolation, ignoring GBLTs is commonplace in politics)

Or perhaps it was that the Shadow Home Secretary, Chris Grayling supports discrimination against GBLT people? Not suspended, not sacked, not hit over the head with a large hammer – he’s still there.

Or maybe The Tory party candidate for Hampshire, Dr. Julian Lewis – the Shadow Defence Minister who STILL opposes the equal age of consent for gays – and called having gay sex a health risk on par with joining the army Cameron, is everyone in the shadow cabinet a homophobe?

Or it could be the Tory Candidate for Ayrshire and Arran, Phillip Lardner, speaking out in favour of section 28, calling homosexuality “not normal,” that “most people agree homosexuality is wrong” and saying gay equality should not be taught in schools. This man is a school teacher (ye gods) and, of course, a Christian protecting the church from us big, bad gays.

Maybe it’s simply that, despite some very vague indications that you may, possibly, do something for GBLT rights, your actual manifesto contains bugger all? That’s probably a biggie.

Or maybe people are just waking up to their homophobic policies and record
It is heartening to see people waking up and realising – Tory lies cannot hide Tory bigotry

The Tories are doing a really bad job of removing that “nasty party” label. Makes me wonder if they even wantr to.  They certainly can’t resist squeezing in plenty of sexism as well. They’re the Tories after all, masters of the objectionable.

First of all, the Tories have decided to push a much vaunted marriage tax break. This tax break will give £150 to couples who are married. Awwww. It sends a “message” to be people that marriage is good.

Because, y’know, government really should be pushing people to marry. And I’m sure there are millions of couples out there on the cusp of breaking up or undecided on whether to marry who just need that £150 a year to encourage them to make the decision. After all, it’s such a deal breaker.

So already it’s not exactly a law that has me leaping up and down. But then add in the details?  The little detail is that:

depends on the main earner earning under £44,000, and the second earner still having a chunk of their personal allowance (£6,475, or £9,490+ for over 65s) left.

Which kind of means that one party in the marriage cannot be working full time. Or, to put it another way, it’s to push women to hand in their shoes and report to the kitchen. Oh, sure, there’s no gender written into the law, but we can all read subtext.

And to add to it, Cameron is dragging up the old abortion battle. This is one fight we hoped we’d won – Britain was a pro-choice nation. But now Cameron wants to reduce the upper limit on abortion from 24 weeks to 20 weeks. Anti-choice organisers are salivating for a Tory government to start chipping away at a woman’s right to control her own body. Add in him also trying to make sure that religious schools do not have to teach comprehensive sex education and it’s like he wants more single mothers in the country

Who he can then demonise.
I could say more but J K Rowling has actually said it for me in a brilliant article entitled “The Single Mother’s Manifesto” frankly, I couldn’t say it half so well.
