Rage beyond compare
Aug. 21st, 2008 04:42 pmMy brother's partner, hereby known as the Bitch Queen, has left him after 7 years for one of his friends - one of his mates in fact who my brother has been putting up while he's on leave from the merchant navy - hell, who I put up when my brother's house had a fire. This would be a shitstorm of it's very own, but no, the BQ has to go that little bit further to make sure everyone's lives are as screwed up as much as possible so she can get her sadistic jollies.
She waited until he was in Northampton with work (i.e. leaves at 6:00am back at 6:00pm) and then leaves. But makes sure she has the time to hire a bloody van so she can take the washer, dryer, dishwasher, tv, dvd player, sky box, most of the cutlery, the pictures off the walls and every freaking penny in the house with her. And his cat. The cat he had before they even met. She even took the bloody HERBS from the herb rack, for gods' sake!
She left him a note. A 1 line fucking note. "I'll be in touch." Yeah bitch, I’d advise against it at this point because they won’t find your body if you do.
Oh and several letters she's been hiding (brother leaves before post man arrives) about the HUGE credit/storecard/catalogue debt she's run up. We're talking £15,000 in OVERSPENDING here. All that money spent on NOTHING, pure vanity crap and shinies her demented self can’t resist racking up because she’s too fucking childish to resist her slightest want and too fucking stupid to realise money doesn’t just appear in a bank account.
But there's more. The second mortgage brother and this demented harpy took to do some DIY on the house with has been alterred. See the form Brother filled in was for £5,000. Some work with a pen and the bitch queen took the signed form and made it £35,000. And hasn't paid it. Nor has she paid the original mortgage on the house for 6 months. brother has seen the money go out the account but it's just not made it to the mortgage company. They sent irritated notes which were ignored (found them stuffed in a draw) oh and a COURT summons for MARCH. Which she ignored because that's SUCH a good response to a bloody legal order, isn't it?
And yet more, it seems that this pathetic waste of skin who defiles the ground she walks on has opened catalogue and credit card accounts in my dad's name and MY name and Richard's name and been merrily running up debts on them - in OUR names, using OUR credit rating! The three of us have debts of over £10,000 and bailiff letters and court summons galore hidden in the back of drawers
We took her in and treated her as family from the word go. Mum and dad treated her like the daughter they never had, treated her like one of their own, no different from me or brother. When they burned down the flat mum and dad opened their homes to them. When they burned down their house I opened up mine to them (sure she spent most of her time at friends or her family but she spent at least half the time under my roof)
My brother is staying with me for the forseeable future while his house is sold and his life generally falls apart because of this soulless, selfish bitch. In between trying to stop the poor sod collapsing totally I'm going to try and fix our credit ratings and get her creditors off his back, maybe set him up as a bankrupt.
She’s ripped out my baby brother’s heart and fed it to him after screwing him for every penny he has and every penny his credit rating would allow her to get her claws on. I don’t think I’ve ever known rage like this. I’ve never hated someone this much. We’ve spent days talking to the Bailiffs and the police - for her own sake they better find her before I do.

Date: 2008-08-21 04:22 pm (UTC)so sorry your brother is going thru this hell.
I agree about the id theft. How could she get cards opened in YOUR name without at least your taxid (or whatever the UK uses instead of the SSN)
use all your wily lawyer-fu to throw her into jail. If nothing else, I'm sure there are bench warrants out for failing to appear in court!

Date: 2008-08-21 04:24 pm (UTC)In a way, I suppose the fact that she took it to outright credit fraud is a GOOD thing. At least in the US (who am I to tell /you/ about UK law, anyway?), she might have gotten away with a lot of the stuff that only involved herself and her husband (er, actually, I'm assuming there - you said partner, and I don't remember their legal status). But it sounds like instead, she decided to venture into BLATANTLY criminal territory.
Send in the Hounds.
(Hey, hiding those summons is probably a criminal offense all by itself. I'm pretty sure it would be here.)

Date: 2008-08-21 04:50 pm (UTC)Obviously she's committed both theft and fraud, and I'm sure you'll be pushing for charges once she's located. Presumably the ex-friend will know where she is?
You've probably already thought of this, but an IVA might be better than going bankrupt, as it should be cheaper and marginally less ruinous to your brother's credit rating. However, is there any possibility that the banks and financial institutions to whom he owes money because he's joint and severally liable with her might give him a sympathetic hearing and write off some of the debt, given that he's a victim of fraud?
It's worth contacting them to see - I used to act for one of the major clearing banks and managed to persuade them to waive interest and legal costs on a mortgage repossession where I was acting for bank and it was quite clear that the borrowers had been receiving wrong and negligent advice from their solicitors. They fought the possession proceedings having been wrongly advised by their idiot solicitors that they had a defence. They didn't, as I told the idiot solicitors ad nauseum, but the idiots kept on quoting out of date case law at me, even though I pointed out the the case had been overruled in the Lords. The idiot solicitors finally instructed counsel two weeks before the trial, counsel immediately realised there was no defence and idiot solicitors contacted me very sheepishly asking to settle by providing vacant possession. By this time - 2 years after possession proceedings had been commenced - the interest and legal fees meant that there was no equity left at all, whereas two years previously the borrowers could have sold up and had enough left to have bought a small property elsewhere.
I told the bank that I thought this was a good case to show a little compassion, as I doubted that the poor borrowers realised their solicitors had been negligent and that they could sue them. The bank agreed and decided that it would only take the principal sum - the amount actually lent and not repaid - from the house sale proceeds and let the borrowers have the rest. Admittedly, this is one of the major clearers, who tend to be a bit more 'sympathetic' than the finance houses, but it can't hurt to try and speak to all of the financial institutions and explain the circumstances and see what they say. They are all insured against theft and fraud themselves, so may be prepared to reach an accomodation with your brother.
Some people are such scumbags. BQ most definitely comes into this category.

Date: 2008-08-21 05:05 pm (UTC)I don't know what it is about some women, they seem to need to hate the man they divorce. They work themselves up into a frenzy where they will do almost anything to 'get back at him' for whatever perceived wrong he did to them - real or imaginary. It's pretty sick.
