I greatly appreciate that anyone would want to make the gesture of sending me a gift, it is shiny and makes me bouncy :)

Buuuut, I'm not a great lover of Pepsico, or its products or business practices. So though I really love the thought and squee all over people who send shinies, I really don't want my LJ profile to become a palce to advertise Pepsi.

So, if I delete your gift, really it's not me not liking you or rejecting a gift or not appreciating the sentiment, it's me rejecting SixApart's attempt to turn my journal into a billboard.

(And am I the only one feeling the sudden need to spam Coca-cola symbols everywhere?)

Beloved did it for me - I think you just click on it and there's an option to delete on it?

Careful! Advertising is against Lj's ToS

Which is what makes the whole thing so sickening!

pft, it can't be advertising if I say something like "I love vanilla coke, it's my wonderdrug" and they can't just delete my LJ for it, they'd have to give me a warning first

Yes - any reasonable company would give you a warning and realise that you are not explicitly advertising, just protesting.....

... unfortunately the word here is reasonable

Hrm. True. As my profile doesnt contain any references to porn, slash, fandom, furries, child abuse, etc etc etc, the only way they would come across my profile would be if someone linked it to them, right?

I think the TOS also says something about not using copyrighted images, which Mystique certainly is; she is splashed all over my layout and avatar. So hrm.

When it comes to LJ I think it's best to reinterpret the ToS as "We can delete you. Resistance is futile"

Well I deleted the images and just left a lovely message in their place.

This whole thing is kind of stupid. Then again, so is big business.

Of course not.

(The worst part is having to remember when you're in 'inappropriate company' and need to pronounce it properly...)

Pepsi and Coke are owned by the same company, so... good luck with that.

.......................................

Proof, man, proof! Because I seem to recall hearing that Pepsi and Coke were something quite close to deadly enemies, beyond even the usual competition of rival brands.

You recall correctly. I don't know where he got that. There was just recently a major criminal court case here in the US of some Pepsi employees trying to steal Coke secrets (a Coke employee was going to steal them and sell it to them). Similar cases have happened in the reverse.

It is a long, brutal, bloody conflict!

If you like Coca Cola try and find the Kosher version when it's available. It's still the 1935 version. I absolutely rocks. It will however make you despise the current stuff.

I don't particularly like any carobonated drink.

Kosher version? I admit I'm not on top with jewish diertary law, but I never thought Coca-cola WAS non-kosher...

Corn sugar afaik is not kosher but there were some issues waaaaay back then with some of the ingredients and preparations.

The kosher formula was "The real thing" from 35 till the abomination 'new coke' appeared. I have some measure of respect for the integrity of the inspections done for kosher products.

I quit drinking any sodas when new coke came out. Now there is no...heart to them. I am berift, broken, faithless former soda fanatic. *tears* The kosher version is still very good but the company put a stake in the mythos? surrounding it.

You read my recent entry about this, right? The Pepsi Max spamming of the folks who run this site is amusing the hell out of me.

It amuses me muchly, but I wonder how muchb money pepsi gives lj per gift? If they pay up per gift given, rather than a fixed sum, them the numb-nuts that run this farce will be coining it in
