Faced with the almost daily prospect of flood I have decided to do the emminently British thing

And pretend it isn't happening - Carry on up the Khyber style. Strawberry mousse anyone?

So we're decorating our bedroom - yes, wallpaper, paint, carpet, furniture and rising waters. Hah, I say, HAH, to Loki and all the gods of mischief and malice that try to trip me!

So I've got my colour charts and wallpaper swatches (not because I don't know exactly what i want - just so I can give them to beloved and give him the illusion that he is part of the deicsion making process. He knows this - he will pick out three colours, I will declare them ghastly, show him what I want. He will nod approvingly and go hide somewhere. He is well trained) and I can begin to fight chaos with my gold and red palace!

Hey, if nothing else, your color choices might scare the water away.

my gold and red palace

Sparky, you're an urbane, witty and yes, fabulously well-groomed young man, but I would not want you to decorate my house :)

very few poeople are brave enough for my taste. i hate pastels and beige and white and cream and *shudder* magnolia. I have bold, dramatic colours that look oh-so-decadent

Gold and red? GOLD AND RED? Good lord Jesus in the happy sky above me please let that be a joke.

Silly Gryffindor.

Sorry. I've got Harry Potter on the brain this week. I'll be ok in a couple weeks or so, once I've read it and moved on.

my thoughts exactly.

I see sparky as being more of a Slytherin.

Slytherin definitely got the better color scheme, even if they're full of evil overlords.

yes, but Gryffindor's are such useful tools! They always leap before they look, can be convinced to do just about anything if you give them a cock and bull story about someone in trouble and they rarely stop to think.

Exactly. So why would you associate yourself with one, unless to torment it or get it to do your bidding?

I'm lucky, Cor's a Ravenclaw.

No joke! It is shiny and I loves it!

I'm a slytherin at heart, but what better way to insinuate myself into the lives of the easily manipalted and useful ones?

I don't really decorate. So long as the curtains and carpet don't clash horribly with the furniture, I'm happy. I bought green curtains for the living room, cream carpet, and a brown couch. I called my work done, and sent hubby to get curtains for the bedroom, because I didn't really care.

Care to venture a guess as to the color he came home with, has been on my bedroom windows for two years, and I never rally paid attention to?

Sigh. I am a silly Gryffindor.

After all the teasing I gave you when you mentioned your bedroom colors, I looked at the windows in my room and saw gold and red curtains.

Although it is more of a burgundy than red.

Ignore the peanut gallery! Gold and red is an excellent choice!

Mind you, I may not be the best judge of this. I spent eight years with a charcoal gray and prime red bedroom, and my current bedroom is dark "Blue heron" Heron gray-blue with some aqua bits.

I'm also attracted to blinkey lights and glittery things.

What's wrong with gray and red? *looks around confuzzled* Though I prefer charcoal gray and scarlet myself...

Do not be afraid of colour! That's my motto. I can't abide those rooms that are all washed out and boring. I go nuts :)
