After the crazy of the flood and the added crazy of fixing my flooded house paying other people fix my flooded house (what? I'm utterly impractical and very very lazy) So after swanning around with an improptu holiday in places with less net connection than I am comfortable with I am now back.

The emergency exist have been blocked. You cannot escape :p

When there are emergencies I generally want to stop existing till they go away.

I'm pleased everything is OK, I was beginning to get worried when we didn't hear anything for a while there...

Was the damage too terrible? I hope nothing irreplaceable got it.

I am very relieved to see you posting again - I was sure something vile had happened to you! Sorry the house is damaged - I presume it's salvageable if it's being repaired, but still, you could have done without it.

Thanks. So much to handle and not always staying near a computer really ruins everything and my net time.

The house itself is largely fine, it's more fixtures and fittings and floorboards that are easily replaced and all (thankfully) covered by the insurance

You aren't being impractical or lazy - it is called specialization in economics - you are paying someone to do something that they do better/faster/cheaper than you could do yourself.

I'm glad to see you back and posting. I especially enjoyed your latest work lament. Sorry to revel in your misery, but you tell a good story.

the police tend to frown on that kinda thing over here. Very unreasonable of them

of course, a well placed haddock solves many a problem

Yay I'm so glad you're back! Insurance is a good thing - at least when insurance covers what you want covered.

Thank you

Aye, I worried about that but thankfully my paranoid, over the odds insurance covers everything up to damage by stampede of cows

Flooding. England. Water outside of where water should be? Oh hell no. Dealing with flooded houses sucks - it's amazing the damage water (only water, if you're lucky) can do. Last summer we were lucky - so close, the river almost flooded, but only a few riverside houses had sewer problems. Hopefully the repairs required aren't too extensive.

I'm leaving for a 6-week UK trip next Wednesday. I am flying across an ocean. I am leaving North America for the first time. While it sucks more to live in a flooded area, as just leaving is harder, I'd still rather avoid flooding.

Is there still excessive water about? If so, where am I to be avoiding for the first bit of my arrival (In London first ~week)?

It would be nice if you could truthfully say that the water has now receded. Nice for you, moreso, but still something I'd like to hear for my own peace of mind as well.

Oh, and thanks for the journal. I've just wasted, I mean, spent an hour of sleeptime catching up. Great, as usual.

Flooding sucks, but it's all gone now - we're dry again. Well, except for the constant rain

Hopefully

London was never really badly hit. It was more a northern thing

Thankee, sleep is for those who don't know the great god caffein

If caffeine molecules weren't overdone, I'd wear/tattoo one. I live off of caffeine, my girlfriend moreso.

Well, yeah. Rain is sorta expected when you're on an island. I am fully prepared to never see a clear sky. Doubtful in six weeks, but still.

Oh, how I miss my 9-10 hours of sleep a night. But long work hours, and trip prep = no 9-10 hour nights for me. Hm..on that note, caffeine time.

Oh, one other question, and I'm not sure you'll know at all, but here goes: Is aloud.com a legit ticketing service? I work for TicketMaster here in Canada, and, well, there aren't really any legitimate ticketing services for TicketMaster events other than TicketMaster here.
