His Most Excellent Majesty, King Sparky the Eternally Amused looked out over the pristine forest visible from the superb views of his palace. Mile upon mile of lush greenery seemed to smile back at him.

Of course, Uranium had been found in that forest. his fingers drummed restlessly on the arm of his chair. Cutting down the forest to extract the ore was unthinkable... but to completely ignore the opportunity would be failing in his duty to his people. Much as he distrusted the overly positive environmental report offered by his advisors, he had to agree that limited mining would seem to be the best option.

He signed the law after much souls searching and resolved to keep a close eye on the situation

Putting the controversial issue aside he picked up another proposal banning gambling “for the sake of the children.” He took considerable pleasure in shredding the paper. Of course gambling should have an age limit (he remembered to order a bigger shredder as he put THAT proposal through the shredder as well). In fact, the casinos already had age limits. He wasn’t going to ban an activity simply because some parents couldn’t look after their children with a full trained staff of 12. Maybe he should introduce proficiency tests before he let people spawn?

YES PLEASE!!!

figure out a way to tie tubes or put birth control in the water or something to prevent "accidental" babies until the parents-to-be take and PASS a parenting class and prove that they're ready for taking care of a child.

With the amount of paperwork and evaluations I had to have before I could get a dog, it's shocking that they'd just let me get knocked up without anyone saying, "Um, Sabine, what the hell are you thinking?"

Other than, you know, my husband. Yay for having a dog!
