It's a busy life being the King
Apr. 13th, 2007 01:25 amHis Most Excellent Majesty, King Sparky the Eternally Amused continues to guide Ascensora with, if not wisdom, at least limited silliness

His Most Excellent Majesty King Sparky the Eternally Amused shook his head in disbelief as he read the latest reports. A tragic murder had shook the nation and a growing number of people were calling for the death penalty to be legalised. He tutted angrily under his breath, you could always rely on people to destroy their own rights when they were afraid. Parliament was even now quavering over what they would do if an extreme right wing party gained power on a pro-death penalty agenda. One arrogant professor was declaring that as a democracy the country would have to accept their decisions. An equally arrogant civil rights activist was demanding that “lunatic” groups be suppressed.
The king merrily dropped both proposals in the rubbish bin, dismissing them. Ascensora was not a democracy - it was a Constitutional Monarchy with an enshrined Human Rights law. Just because the majority wanted to strip away rights didn’t mean they could. He always found it an extremely good idea - it was amazing how silly people could be sometimes
With infinitely more amusement he turned to the next issue of the day. It appeared that marijuana consumption in the country had reached such a level that it was severely harming industry. He had to smile at the thought of the country grinding to a halt because everyone was sleepy - but he couldn’t risk a famine caused by that many munchies.
He still favoured the liberal drug wars of the country - stoned people always voted positively in polls. But he never imagined people were dumb enough to smoke weed at work. Rolling his eyes again at the eternal silliness of his people he signed the law confining marijuana use to people’s own home and leisure time.
Satisfied, the King checked to make sure that the palace counted as his home under the new law (it didn’t but he amended it appropriately) and lay back and relaxed...
