Computer make me insane. Sparky SMASH!
Jan. 7th, 2007 02:00 pmOK, Daemon is aptly named since it is slowly driving me to insane violence.
Recent new issue? Every time I press the "Num Lock" it opens a damn window about key binding - an INACCURATE ONE.
But now we have the utter WORST thing EVER. Every time I press the damn SHIFT key it opens "windows help." Do you have ANY idea how hard it is to write any fic when every single damn capital letter causes a bloody pop up to appear?! *smash smash smash smash*

Date: 2007-01-08 01:51 am (UTC)Usually it's caused by some contamination, hair, drinks dust/dirt, etc but sometimes it's a faulty connection that's wants to stick together rather than open up when pressure is removed.
I can take them apart and clean them but it's damn tedious and it's easy to lose parts. If store is open that has them cheap I just buy another one.
If it's an expensive one you may need to either clean it or have it cleaned if you can find someone competent to do it.

Date: 2007-01-08 11:37 pm (UTC)In that case you can have a bit of fun, once you get the new one take the old one apart, carefully noting where every thing goes with pix or notes.
Clean the strange looking plastic sheets with the silver paint on them with 70 percent alcohol and tissues and make sure they are dry before putting them together.
Clean everything else with an old toothbrush dish soap and warm water. You can dry the small parts on paper towels the large plastic pieces can be air dried in the dish rack or with a hair dryer on low. Reassemble and test.
If that fails take the plastic sheets and use them to make a lamp shade with them, this will confuse everyone. You can use the keys for scrabble or glue them together with plastic cement to make techno-art. :-P :-P
I'm not sure what the little rubber cups that act as springs are good for other than being good at bouncing out of sight if you drop them.
