Today is strange. Winter is finally gone and I'm half happy because it's going to be less freezing death in the office (and the fact it hung on for so long was kind of scary in a who's-the-demon-screwing-with-the-weather kind of way). Most of me is sad. I like winter. Winter is cold so you can get all snuggly warm and have central heating and warm fuzzies. Summer is hot with sweat and no way to get cool. On the plus side, summer has more scantily clad guys around. But summer brings evil light.

Yesterday was my first bad light day of the year so I'm grumpily hiding behind my sunglasses. Sounds pretty normal for me (I never even noiticed it to be honest, sure, I have never liked bright light but it's not a problem or especially unusual) but b/f dragged me to doctor/dietician (he is paranoid about meningitis since his cousin caught it once). Doctor/dietician fellow tells me this light sensitivity thing is linked to diet. Well, that's a new one, and probably explains why some days I'm fine and singing to blue birds and some days I want the sun to DIE and plunge us all into eternal freezing night. And you will all like it.

Of course I'm supposed to do a food diary and they're talking about vitamins and blood tests and deficiencies and things I can't eat. B/f is glaring at me because I'm going to ignore it all and pack sunglasses. I don't like fiddly diets.

So, fiddly diet or sunglasses and grumpy b/f? *prods b/f* better get used to being grumpy *eats whatever I want*.

The third bedroom has been declared a Russian zone. Only Russian may be spoken there. No, I don't know why or how we decided it but it has been decided.

Yes, all leftovers can be warmed up and served with pasta. No matter what they are. Yes, that will include cake, damn it.

You cannot fry without oil or fat. No, our parents were not lying to us, it's true. We need a new frying pan.

You shouldn't use a wok for bacon. No, really. Certainly if you're going to leave it unattended. We need a new wok.

You can actually burn soup if you leave it long enough. It will also boil over and leave gunk everywhere. We need a new hob. Or possibly to clean.

The suit is dry clean only. Really. This is not a secret conspiracy between laundries and the suit making industry. I didn't like that suit anyway.

I had a problem with sensitivity to the sun when I was on the pill. But I'm guessing that's not your problem.

Почему - третий русский спальни только?

Mmmmm, now I want some pasta.

Nope, certainly not :)

Oh no, it's a russian only room, that doesn't mean we speak russian. No, I don't quite understand what thought paths lead us there either. We really cannot be trusted together. It's as bad as our days when all speach must rhyme or when everything should be considered a prophecy.

Hm...what was the suit made of? I'm pretty sure I've had that unfortunate accident...although I think it was more me using hot water instead of cold that did it.

Light sensitivity...blue eyes? If so, and if you have relatives with light sensitive eyes, you're likely just screwed. I am now in the market for tinted contacts.

The thing with cooking[wrong]? This is the reason I only cook with water. It's not that I only cook things that can be cooked in water, it's that everything and anything can be cooked in water. And then nothing burns. Of course, I actually like boiled chicken, boiled beef, boiled pork...etc. Although marination is fairly easy, too.

You clearly are unaware that given enough time unattended, even a simple hard-boiled egg can become a grenade. Don't believe me? Try putting your egg on to boil, then forgetting that you've done so for about forty five minutes. Wait for the "pop" sound, then enter the kitchen with your broom and dustpan. One other thing, you'll want to move the appliances when cleaning up. A hard-boiled egg has a surprisingly large shrapnel range, and you'll want to make sure you get the bits that flew behind your refrigerator.

Well...I have done the egg or potato in the microwave trick (in a junker, $5 microwave).

[Speaking of explosives, have you done the "hot water + dry ice" inside a sealed 590/600/710/2L pop bottle? Takes a couple minutes, expands to double the normal diameter, then goes off significantly louder than a rifle as the bottle blows up. Wonderful cloud of mist, too. I once, er, had the police looking for a guy with a shotgun accidentally. I couldn't tell them there was no one, because then I would've been charged with (at the very least) noise violations.]

As far as the exploding hard-boiled egg thing...aie. I generally hover over anything I'm cooking just to make sure it doesn't do that.

Since we got our new gas stove I've been burning things though...electric just takes _so_ much longer to heat up, and really doesn't put as much sustained heat into your cooking implements.

I knew there was a reason I keep glancing lovingly at the dry ice freezer at the grocery store.

Your grocery stores have dry ice? Sweet...

I have to buy mine at a ~$1CND/pound at a specialty ice place. eg. "Ice Peddler" etc.

Completely OT, but it's really weird to come home and find out that your boyfriend's been more active on LJ lately than you have.

Study study....

I'm not sure... it was bought for me and it had dry clean only tabs.

I have dark eyes, but I do have light sensitive relatives but nto as badly as I am. My grandmother is worse than me, but she is paranoid about what she eats so manages to avoid it most fo the time.

Ack, i don't like boiled meat that much. And we're good at letting things boil over or boil dry.

Light sensitivity is the suck. I'm like a bloody vampire: can't go outside without my sungless.
Yes, even when it's cloudy out.

I can live with it, it's only when I have a bad day that my eyes really bother me.
