Damn, but when exactly did Weir come out? How did I miss that? :) Or is it still that thing that nobody has confirmed yet, but everybody knows "the secret" anyway? I remember USFS having a very definite stance on that subject, something similar the Army's DADT principle. Has something changed while I was looking the other way?
By the way, I remember the Beijing Summer Olympics in 2008, and I remember the uproar on lots of gay websites when Matthew Mitcham of Australia won on the 10m platform. I remember being irritated the way you are now because of all the glee on the gay community side: "See, he's gay! And he won the Olympic gold!" As if it was his sexuality that had earned him gold, not the years of hard work. :/ What does it matter anyway? So, he won, good for him. I wished Gleb Galperin would take that gold, though. :)
I think both gay and straight sides are pretty often trying to bring politics into sports, which is so not good.
