OK, be careful what you say...
Jun. 26th, 2007 12:20 pm...because some snarky trickster deity with an evil sense of humour may hear you.
After my ranting about summer and all its evils we got pretty awful weather. And I was happy, yes, HAPPY; I MOCK YOU DAYSTAR.
And then there was yesterday when the Sparky opened the door, stepped out and... *SPLASH*
Uh... the streets full of water. 2 foot deep and rising. It rained heavily and constantly all day. It rose to 3 foot by the end of the day. Someone died here, caught his foot in a drain and drowned. Our neighbour, a nearly blind woman out walking her dog (it is OFFICIAL! The canine loving community is INSANE. Drop the pooch and get a cat. Cat will look at the water, sniff and curl up and go to sleep somewhere warm. Cat is SENSIBLE) had to be rescued by neighbours as she floundered around.
So yesterday was full of panic and sandbags and panic and stranded and panic and phone calls and panic and panic and panic.
Today the water is HIGHER somehow. The rain has stopped but we still have more than 3 foot of water outside. Still, panic is over unless it starts raining again. The water will go away eventually and I can see what's left of my garden
Gah, it NEVER floods round here, now this is 2 floods in one summer!
ETA: Bugger, weather forecast says more rain today. We're moving the furniture upstairs.
