Mr. and Mrs. McCann have lost their daughter. I can only imagine the pain they’re going through. Hundreds of other couples have also lost children and suffer the same pain but they don’t have the same degree of attention paid - but we can hardly blame the McCanns for that.

But this ongoing circus is growing beyond ridiculous. I can understand doing everything in your power to help find your child, to spare no expense at all (especially since a charity has been set up and donations are coming in from the public) I could understand wanting to stay in Portugal until the child was found - but this world tour? Yeah, that’s kind of leaving a nasty taste in the mouth.

How many world leaders have they met up with now? How many people not even remotely involved or capable of doing anything about it? They went to the NETHERLANDS for crying out loud. And Germany and now Morocco. We’ve had massive adverts on Wembly stadium - hello? She didn’t go missing in Britain. How is an advert in Wembly supposed to help? (And surely that sticks in the craw of parents whose children HAVE gone missing in Britain and not got such a wonderful degree of coverage)

I think the McCanns are in severe danger of using up the public’s supplies of sympathy

Because Morganlefay posted it I now feel compelled to :)

If there is at least one person on your friends list you would like to take, strip naked, tie them to a bed post, lick them until they scream, then fuck them until both of you are senseless, then wait about five minutes and do it all over again, then post this exact sentence in YOUR journal.

Me: *on the phone with the insane Nana* *lots of random babble* By the way Beloved was just asking me about what great grandma did for a living - because he’s helping with the family tree.
Nana: *intake of breath, happy squee, prepares for LONG RAMBLING INSANE MEMORY WITH LOTS OF PAINFUL DETAIL INCLUDING STUFF SHE‘S DREAMED/MADE UP*
Me: Oh, wait a moment, he’s here
Me (to beloved): Phone for you
Beloved: Oh? *picks up phone*
Nana: *begins HUGE LONG AND PAINFUL BABBLE*
Me: *leaves house very quickly*
Beloved: O_0

Since his Nana-fu skills are extremely weak, I understand it was over 90 minutes before he got rid of her.

I have an insane grandparent and I’m not afraid to use her :p

I keep feeling I've posted this before but I can't remember. Reminded by Zero_pixel_coun on their musing about Finian's Ghost, a fic which is on my huuuge "MUST READ" list which annoys me with its hugeness and lack of time to read

A note on Darren’s EXTRA long hair - normally only really ancient and heroic Camaalis would have ankle length hair - his is an act of defiance on his part. Part of it is that even though he IS hunted and IS in hiding he still refuses to get rid of an EXTREMELY identifying feature because HE IS STILL CAMAALIS. He may be in hiding. They may hate him. They may fear him. They may try to kill him - but he is STILL Camaalis and his long hair (and collection of ruig) are his anchors to that. Something tangible he can point to and say “no matter what, I am still Camaalis.” It is a way for him to cling to his identity.

He also refuses to cut it his hair - a mark of shame and dishonour - to mark that despite Camaalis hunting him for what he IS, he hasn’t actually DONE anything that would shame him into cutting his hair. It‘s like a flag to Camaalis implying that their hunt is unjustified. That‘s also why he never wears pony tails or braids - he‘s flaunting it. He accepts that he is inherently evil, even that he should be destroyed, but part of him still resents the hunt and wants to declare “I have done nothing wrong.” (Even despite the fact he has).
