As I've got some room. I mean, it's not like I don't have time but dealing with the minumental pile of shit Bitch Queen left behind has put me in a permanant bad mood which means I've kind of withdrawn from any kind of social things for a time to a) try and focu on my brother who is a MESS and b)try not to splash my bad mood everywhere. It's not even a ranty bad mood (I think i'm too exhausted for that), it's a withdraw and sulk bad mood. I'm trying to latch on to some social contacts before we all become bitter loners

On the good side:
The bailiffs/collection agencies/whatever have been wonderfully understanding about just about everything from backing off to dropping charges in false names with minimum arm twisting.

Brother's (and Bitch Queen's for that matter) boss rocked like a rocking thing. Gave him time off, instantly shifted his wages to different accounts, fired her (ok not as dubiously illegal as it sounds since she didn't show up for work either and still hasn't - no notice just gone) and cancelled her wages going into bank (he has a cheque for her. She just has to show up and collect. (Also dubiously legal but he claims that since both wages were going into the same account and one person cancelled that transfer it was better to cancel both "to be on the safe side.") He also called round Brother mine's house 4-5 times over the weekend to make sure

Family has rallied and made sure he (and I since he's living here, which is a mixed blessing) is never ever ever left alone. Which distratcs him sometimes, but the problem is any family gathering we've had in the last few years has, naturally, included Bitch Queen. So her absence in the context makes him sad (he hasn't hit the anger stage which is really frustrating). Family and friends are both rallying round and keeping a lazer gaze out for Bitch Queen.

Work has been hella cool with me, giving me time, help and goodness. Time helps a lot (how many jobs will give you time off to put your brother together?) and the legal help helps more. Despite my most eager instincts I am NOT doing the legal work on this one - my colleagues are. I want to too much - which makes me a baaaad choice. I'm too close, too angry and too upset to think straight on the matter. I need them to look at my decisions and recognise when my judgement is clouded. I, in the meantime, get to be the client that I always hate

On the bad:
Police are not taking this seriously at all. "Well since it's a domestic civil matter it doesn't really concern us." Errr, no bitch, it's a FRAUD and IDENTITY THEFT matter now waddle yourself over to find a colleague who knows what those terms mean, or, failing that, can at least read the dictionary with sufficient competency to find out what they mean.

There are debts debts and more debts coming in every day. In some ways bankrupt may be the best route simply because it will take care of all the hidden debts he doesn't know about (not that choice is much of an issue here)

Yay for the good, and Grr for the bad.

I really am sorry to hear about how your brother has to go through all this, and I know what you mean about the bad mood.

Here's hoping karma bites her big time =)

It is, indeed, good that someone a little more removed from the emotional punch of this is handling the legal. And that both your boss and his are being Decent Human Beings, giving you both time and support.

So glad you are getting help. The police are useless as usual - make them do their bloody job!

Good luck to all of you.

Here be one of the reasons that identity theft is hard to press charges on. "Oh, they tried to ruin your life financially? But they didn't beat the crap out of you? Sorry! No go!" Argh.

That attitude from the police is awful. The bankruptcy people will pursue her to the doors of hell though.

At least in Canada, your brother may be in an awkward legal position because he cosigned a lot of the paperwork (the morgage, tampered with tho it may be, for example), but anything that has a forged signature on it should be fair game for the cops.

The problem, of course, is getting them to do something about it. I hope your firm can help with that. Best of luck, my thoughts are with you all.
