*wakes up*

*looks out window*

*gape*

There's a foot of water in the bloody street AGAIN!

Ye gods of mercy, we're not in a flood area! How can we have THREE floods in TWO months?!

And it's going to rain today.

Ok, it drained away pretty quickly after a fashion (it's about 6 inches now) and is more a whole street puddle that just reaches the kerb, but still.

Maybe the Environment agency will put us on metallic green with yellow stars alert. Gods know what it will mean but since when has that stopped them?

It's a sign - a sign that you should put on your speedos and parade around for us in the water. Teehee.

hmm, there's snow days, maybe there's flood days?

Um, boss, I can't come in today. Why? well, there's 3 feet of standing water in the street and my hip waders don't work on liquids...

Dear boss,

I can't come in to work today as my car is still working on getting it's bronze swimming certificate. I will be back in either when it completes the correspondance course or the water drains, whichever comes first

I am guessing that "We're not in a flood area" is about to become "This place wasn't a flood area before," because, well, that's a lot of flooding.

Is it wrong of me to find the mental image of a group of British lawyers canoeing to work in their suits with their briefcases strapped to their backs somewhat amusing?

Hm...Monty Python's "The Crimson Permanent Assurance", while not composed of lawyers (bankers, rather) seems reminiscent.

And, um, wow. Weird weather. I guess by the time I'm up there in a couple weeks there's a chance it'll flood again. Hopefully it won't flood enough to cause damage (again).

And I agree with the "It didn't used to be a flood area" comment. If it floods three times this summer, and then floods next summer....it would seem to be a flood area. Ouch.

Lawyers canoeing to work ?
