Kittie wars continues!
Apr. 13th, 2007 02:51 pmThere has been a victory in the trenches against the kittie! I have successfully overcome her objection to being picked up (usually causes a lot of yowling). She will now be picked up and hugged and petted without yowling.
Alright, it wasn't one of the original goals... but it was mission creep damn it.
She is bright enough and quickly learns what she SHOULDN'T do (doesn't mean she doesn't do it, it means she waits until you're in the other room to do it). So if you make sure she's in rooms with people/the rooms she's in can't be harmed by the chaos then she can't do any harm.
A biro pen thrown on the floor will keep her distracted for HOURS until she wears herself out. While playing with the pen she isn't jumping all over the place, knocking things over and leaving claw trails. A very useful weapon in kittie wars.
To make sure she doesn't savage your feet during the night you ahve to keep her awake. This is achieved by poicking her up every time she curls up or throwing a pen at her (which she then plays with). When we go to bed, she collapses. We have a victory in the war!
Every time she accidentally claws me I grab and hold her little foot. She yowls. I glare. She's becoming more careful with her claws - but she likes you to tickle between the pads on her feet (weird weird kittie).
I think I'm winning, it just requires constant vigilence!

Date: 2007-04-14 12:09 am (UTC)The laser pointer of DOOM!
The only rule is to almost let them catch it but never quite do so. You have to plan out the places where it can disappear and seem to have escaped.
If for some reason you can't have a laser, a good quality light like a mini-mag light works.
Of course there is the old stand by. A brown paper bag.
They're almost impossible to get now days but they are infinitely rechargable...for cats.
Set it outside where it won't easily get wet. Bring it in. It's BRAND NEW!!!! ZOMG WHAT IS IN IT!
When it runs down. Charge it up again.
