Ah, the perils of the 21st century

Part of my decadence destressing :)

Me: Come on, we're house sitting
Beloved: I'm not ready yet!
Me: We're going for 4 hours. Even I haven't felt the need to pack a bag (extras tucked into the car do not count).
Beloved: I've been there before, there's nothing there!
Me: 4 hours together. You have me, a television and all the books you can carry. What's the problem.
Beloved: I don't turn pages, I scroll
Me: What?
Beloved: I cannot exist without a computer, broadband line, DVD player, Digital television, MP3 player and a machine which can make at least 4 kinds of Italian coffee!
Me: You are so owned by technology. What would you have done if you had been born in the 14th century?
Beloved: Converted to a religion that believes in reincarnation and repeatedly poison myself through life times until i am greeted by a capuccino that I can order online.
Me: *headdesk*

Agreed, it is the most civilised option

Hahahahahaha! My CoB is the same way. Some day we are going to vacation somewhere with NO cell signal, no electricity, and no access of any kind to anything electronic in nature. There's a nice island on Lake W. that would fit somewhat. *sigh*

hmmm, I think that would be nice for the first hour then I would panic :)

I am taking a Christmas vacation to Seattle, to see the girlfriend that I haven't seen in ten months.

I have given serious thought to buying a notebook PC so that I can have WoW, email, LJ, and IMs while I'm there, because CLEARLY a woman who not only is interested in sleeping with me but hasn't seen me in nearly a year is NOT ENOUGH DISTRACTION.

Fortunately, budget (and my desire to not piss off the aforementioned lady) won out over the notebook urge... Besides, I can use *her* PC.

The day before my wedding I was overjoyed (and husband nearly killed me) to find out the hotel we were in had free wireless... And the hotel let me connect to the wired hub to get the drivers for the inbuilt wireless... So once I was ready for the wedding the next day, I was sitting on forums while I was waiting..........

Slightly addicted? Me? Where?

[identity profile] sparkindarkness.livejournal.com 2007-01-11 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I did the same thing... biggest day of my life ever and I was on computer forums baaaaad me

[identity profile] ladydyani.livejournal.com 2006-12-12 02:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I get the shakes if I'm away from my computer for too long. A little local coffee shop has the worst food imaginable, but I go there for lunch all the time, just to use the free wireless.

greeted by a capuccino that I can order online

you can order caps online?? WICKED!! I thought being able to order pizza online was progress!

and I SO SO related. I swear I was going thru withdrawals when I was in the hospital for five days.

wouldn't surprise me in the least if hospitals don't start supplying a datalink along with a phone line and a tv remote...

I personally don't, but apparently he knows an internet cafe that delivers soi you can email the coffee-making people and ta-da, subs and coffee to go

Soon every hotel, hospital, hell, traffic light,m will come with its own wireless signal :)
