A Glossary

Because it was easier to get my mind around it with one to help me manage it all.



Glossary:

Cast(ing): (1) Act of using magic. (2) Using magic that hasn’t been practiced, i.e. isn’t a Spell.
Contain: Act of holding and controlling magic that you have Drawn. One of the Four Talents of Will.
Direct: Act of applying a Casting to a target. One of the Four Talents of Will.
Draw: Act of pulling magic from a Source. One of the Four Talents of Will.
Four Talents of Will: 4 skills used when using magic – Drawing, Containing, Shaping and Directing.
Free Magic: Magic without Signatures.
Imprint: The Signature left by the magic user on the magic he uses.
Ley Lines: Rivers of Free Magic that run across the world.
Node: Place where 2 or more Ley Lines cross.
Order: A collective name for related Sources – eg Glamour is a collective name for magic from dreams, imagination, fantasy and creativity.
Personal Power A source – the power that makes up part of a fae’s body. Usually carries heavy Signatures and Imprints.
Rip: Act by Sidhe of Drawing magic deeply from a Source. Magic becomes Free Magic and the Source is usually damaged or destroyed.
Shape: Act of turning raw magic into an actual Casting – giving it form and purpose. One of the Four Talents of Will.
Signature: Ways in which the Source of magic influences the magic itself – so magic drawn from granite will have the traits of granite: hardness, etc. TRhese traits are the Signature.
Source: Source of magic. Something from which you can pull power.
Spell: Practiced and rote learned magic Shaping. Quick, easy, efficient and powerful.
Talent: Term for one of the Four Talents of Will. A Talent is one of the skills (Draw, Contain, Shape and Direct) necessary
