Yup. This happened to a friend of mine, actually. He was pretty firmly anti-gay for a while (grew up with it, etc) and then he woke up one day and said, "You know, I know people who are gay. They're pretty cool. I can either not have them as my friends -- and I like having them as my friends -- or I can get over myself." And he did.
