And to Blizzard - WoW talk

Ok this patch? More than kinda rocks. I love what you've done to the spec trees. I love that classes are all using rotations rather thans just spamming the same abilities (our Destruction warlocks hate you, btw). I'm not madly keen on buffs being unniversal and not stacking (I can make a raid of nearly ANYONE now and I don't have to fiddle to make the groups perfect - and I liked organising 25 guildies so the best groups lined up!) but it is interesting (My totems are now GODS! GODS I SAY!) Stormwind harbour looks soooo shiny and achievements are such a great idea! My old raids will count for something even if it's for epeen! In general I'm loving this patch, yes yes I am.

But what the hell have you done to the bosses? Alright, I know you want us to see Sunwell before the expansion - but we killed Mother Shazrah with NO SHADOW RES GEAR OR BUFF. Seriously, that should not be possible. Really. We've cleared Black Temple, if we go to Illidan on Sunday and kill him as if he were Attumen after all those weeks of whiping then that's going to be hella depressing. But I think we will, from what I've seen. Why don't the bosses just commit suicide as soon as the raid shows up and hand out the shiny epics?

Ah well, I suppose it's only until WOTLK, but it still kinda bugs me.

My main, the Resto Shaman is extremely happy with the patch. Earthliving weapon and Riptide? GODLIKE! Totems working on the whole raid? FEAR HIM. But why why why why can a Gruul equipped Holy priest now heal him into the ground? He used to be the best healer in the guild by a good 4% margin - only resto druids challenged him. Now a noob holy priest can leave him standing?!

My first alt, the Feral druid tank is loving the infinite target swipe, the feral charge in cat form, the berserk and many other talents that are just LOVE. Really LOVE. Infinite mangles! However he would like to know what the hell you've done to his armour, 'kay thanks? Because I've lost 10k armour. That's not good. Really not good.

My second alt, the Gnomish fire mage says... well, not much. He's running round in circles singing and dancing and screaming "BURN!" at regular intervals. But I think that this rather ridiculous crit chance is going to make him the biggest agrowhore in the guild (instant pyroblast on consecutive crits? OH MY GODS). And I've always argued with the warlocks that fire mages have the best Aoe. Now? I think we can forget the argument. I win.

My third alt, the Retridin/Protadin is just sat in the corner with a nasty little smile on her face. When asked to comment she just says "bring it." because DAMN!

Does the fact I have 4 BT level characters mean I play too much WoW do you think?

Is there such a thing as too much WoW?

I liked fiddling, but now there's an element of "2 moonkin? What's the point? get a mage" we're actually seeing less raid utility in some ways. There's no point in more than 2 shamans - 3 at most. Paladins max out at 2-3 as well. It certainly supports a more diverse raid.

Well, I never downranked in the first place. I didn't like doing it - and mana regen seems to have been boosted because my mana has never regenerated so fast. Maybe because my crit is pretty high already - or because we always have moonkin (yes I will have an extra 5% crit) keeping my watershield prociing and my ancestral guardian (loving that). But I'm having less mana issues than I used to - and that's even when I can't guzzle pots.

I liked mah armour cap *sulk* our health is high and we have damage reduction talents that balance it out and our dodge is still legendary, so we cna still tank. It's just horrifying seeing less than 30k armour

Crit = agro which worries me. But the agro mechanics are HELLA generous now. The amount of threat tanks are putting out is scary

I hates pvp so I never really noticed the burst badness of the retridin except the guild screaming about it. As a pve classd they work - their damage is less than warriors (who are now scrabbling for more hit to go with their titanic grip - and yes, the innuendo jokes about taking a big weapon in your titanic grip are not going to end any time soon - and even trying arms that OMG works now!) or rogues but they buff everyone REAAAAAAL nice.

This is known. there is never too much wow

Take the moonkin anyway. Sure, he's not adding a buff, but his DPS (should) only be a few percentage points below the mage's anyway. The philosophy is 'nobody is bringing unique buffs, and hybrid DPS is very near par with single-role DPS. Take *whoever you want*, it will work if they're good players.'

Aye we are doing, but I can't help but feel something is missing.

BTW is anyone on your server complaining about locks? Our warlock class leader is NOT HAPPY with this patch (he was destruction). He says destruction warlocks have been nerfed. I say that they've just brought all 3 trees together as equally viable - and stopped any warlock from topping the damage meter by just standing there spamming one damn spell

Our destruction 'locks are unhappy. Given that they really were topping the damage meters by a really wide margin by standing there spamming one spell, we (the collective guild 'we') have little sympathy, and even the 'locks admit that they were kind of dumb.

One of the express design goals in WotLK was to remove the ability to get effective DPS by pushing one button over and over, whether it was hunters with a /castsequence macro or destro 'locks with their one pewpew spell. It also seems they want to do away with the concept of 'rotation as king'; sure, a good rotation will get you places, but if you want to be REALLY good then you'll need to pay attention and (gasp!) use the spell appropriate to the situation. Lots of proc-based situational effects across the board, basically.

That's what I say. It's a nerf - but it's a nerf that brings them into line with other classes and specs. 90% of our warlocks were/are destruction because they burned affliction and demonology locks off the table with no real competition. The only affi lock we have was affi for improved curse of elements. And they got all this damage by just spamming shadowbolt over and over

They seem to have pushed rotations as well - class after class I'm seeing spells lead to procs that help other spells. My shaman's rip tide enchances chain heal which in turn enhances healing wave and lesser healing wave. Moonkin can't just wrath spam any more since wrath procs a starfire bonus which in turn procs a wrath bonus. Even my mage's aoe leads me to use the spells in sequence rather than just spamming arcane explosion

You have to use your spells appropriately and you have to use ALL of your spells. You can't use the same pattern every time and you can't use them same spells every time. There's a lot more skill to being a dps like this

I did wonmder about hunters. I didn't know what they did but all but one of our hunters are suddenly WAY down the damage meters.
