Traditional way of life or not, it's still residing and has to be on land set up for the purpose, with clean water and sanitation. A green field that's been camped on by travellers for six months is not going to be green or safe for use as parkland afterwards. Too often these people are taking over beauty spots and nature reserves, and those exist for the benefit of all, not a few people claiming a 'tradition'.
